This annoying battery consumption by BBM is the last straw for me. I usually leave my phone connected to its charger overnight (in bedside mode) to prepare it for the next day -- only to find out that BBM has drained again and again my phone even before I leave home.

    I've had enough with BBM-img_20150201_091727.png

I do not have wi-fi at home and rarely connect to wi-fi networks elsewhere. I've got NO apps connected to BBM. I only access BBM thru the Hub and not thru the app itself. And I RARELY use BBM as I've only 1 contact there. In other words, no issue for me if I delete BBM in my phone but that's just lame as well because this is supposedly a BB phone.

It's an unfortunate problem, but it does happen occasionally. Try rebooting your phone first.
If that doesn't work try a hard reset: hold volume up and volume down button until phone begins to reboots (hold about 10 secs)

Thank you for the response. However, all remedies have been done. And the reboot/hard reset are temporary solutions. It doesn't fix the issue.

I for the first time have noticed a similar issue on my z30 the other day. Normally bbm just hovers on the bottom at like 1% or so. Other day tho it was 23% in a short period for no reason.

Have only seen this once on my phone though

I had the issue with 10.2.1. Every few weeks or would happen. I would do a hard reset and it would be fine (til the next time).

I havent had the issue on any of the 10.3.1 leaks.

For everyone's info, this problem isn't a new or isolated one. This is a common BBM issue that has been ignored by Blackberry.

I've already did everything that could be done - from resets to OS reload. Geeks out there have pinpointed the problem to (okay, those stuff are to technical that I can't recall the terms), but in the end it is still Blackberry that could solve the issue. Some say it is with the BB Shop downloading stuff, which I agree, and others say it's with some ad-related technical sh#ts.

Again, this is something that Blackberry needs to seriously address.

I'm still on 3062. If this BBM battery consumption issue still occurs on 10.3, that's good as giving up on BBM.

Is it even possible to delete BBM? Or, unless you used sideloaded app or Passport allows you to do that.

Yep, already well known. You have 3 solutions :

    - Put your phone in airplane mode. As you're already using Bedside mode, it's pretty easy. Just open the clock app, go to the settings and tick off the "Wireless Connections in Bedside Mode".

    - This issue appears because your carrier blacklisted the address BBM is trying to access. Contact them and ask for a full internet experience... If there is no Ads block on your Wi-Fi network, you can also let your phone connected to it at night to "resolve" this issue.

    - Wait for the next BBM update without this "call home" feature to share your metrics. In the meantime, don't go to the shop section of BBM.

I think we've already discussed about these items:

    - my wireless connections are off when in bedside mode
    - my carrier said they do not block/blacklist anything related to BBM/BB
    - ive got no wifi at home and rarely use wifi networks
    - and i never ever go to the BBM shop
