I am just musing over the possibility of BlackBerry making an android OS package that can be loaded on current BlackBerry devices. Some low level customizations. I don't know how to state this precisely in technical terms; I imagine that it's possible to tweak the core of the android OS; allow entry points for the current hardware and allow android run natively and complete.

Yes BB10 hardware is capable of running Android.... it's pretty generic hardware.

No, BlackBerry will never unlock the boot rom to allow other software to be installed - security issue. And no BlackBerry isn't going to waste time on old devcies, Chen needs to get customers to buy new hardware or he won't be able to afford to stay in hardware.

I think running Android Marshmallow on a 2012 Snapdragon S4 would take a big performance hit compared to BB10. The Passport would work fine, but there is no conceivable reason to spend the significant resources on that endeavor.
