it's driving my wife nuts that the qwerty keyboard makes so much noise while typing. the Z10 was a perfect bed companion but as much as i love the Q10 and all previous BlackBerry devices i've owned, i keep being kicked to the couch until i am ready to go to sleep and it sucks. we must all remember that a happy wife is a happy life.

i can't be the only one that catches flack for this? what are some realistic options?

Maybe your fingers should be clicking something else while in bed with the wife, no?

I used to catch hell for this when I had the 9700 and 9900. Life is easier with my much loved Z10.

You should banish the wife to the couch, so you can have quality time with your phone.

You should use voice commands and dictation and demonstrate to her just how good she has it.

I am lucky to have a bad ear, if there is noise, I roll over.

My husband sleeps through any noise, so I dont have a problem, though it helps that we have two fans on high while we sleep

Yep you should be using your fingers on something else other than the BlackBerry in bed.

    Unless you're using the camera

Dude if you're on your Q10, in bed with your wife - you've got a problem... much deeper than the clickity clacking noise it makes... trust me I KNOW from experience and I'm no longer with my ex.

You must love having hairy palms right? I look forward to late night angry posts here on CB from you CB10 app lol. I'm teasing but yeah I'm serious because I know the reasons I've done it myself back in 2012 before the CB10 app debuted lol

That's one of the downsides of having a real QWERTY phone. While the Q10s keyboard isn't the loudest out there, it ain't really silent either. My 9900 was louder and the Q5 is louder too. However my old Nokia N900, E7 and the good E90 Communicator were nearly silent, so was the HTC Desire Z.
What can you do? Try to do your typing before going to bed or get another phone, either a full-touch device which let's you disable any keyboard sounds and vibrations or get an older QWERTY slider with a more silent keyboard.

On a more personal sidenote: While I can somehow understand the possibility of communicating and browsing in bed, I can fully understand your wife for sure. I am a guy and when going to bed I also dislike when my girlfriend keeps texting and browsing when we went to bed. Even though she uses a silent full-touch phone. The display still emits light and besides that: Especially in our todays always-on times, there simply needs to be a time of day when you simply turn things offline. That especially means a phone. We're already hyperconnected all day, all the time with so many people. Be it friends, loved ones, collegues or business partners., I think kicking back and simply stay offline, especially in bed, to have at least some time with the person you love and live with is getting a more and more important thing.

    Double-typed and posted with a BlackBerry Q10.

I had a similar issue with an ex-girlfriend. I would always wake up before and respond to a few messages before I got out of bed. It would drive her crazy!
