I have a Q10 and I'm planning to travel England next month. I would like to get a sim card and temporarily disable my home country sim as I think it would cost me more to do roaming than get a sim.
Will swapping my SIM not affect my bbm existing contacts?
Will I still be able to use bbm through wifi if there is no sim yet?
What prepaid carrier you can recommend? I will be staying in Devon. My phone is used mostly for emails, bbm, and a Lil browsing.

Nope, just make sure you have data on your new SIM. Whatsapp may not work

Make sure those contacts you need are on your phone as well as sim.

Depends on what part of Devon your going to,Look on the websites of 3,O2,Vodafone,(Orange/TMobile/EE use same masts), for area coverage. When you get there you could always ask few people where your staying what there coverage is like in that area then get one from a phone shop.
Your not coming to UK to buy a new Passport and then take it home with you ?

Thanks Aybesea. No. I'm not coming to the UK for the Passport. :-) would be nice to see and play with it though. Was doing some research and seems like EE or O2.

I live in east anglia near parts of the most easterly side of the country. I have used all networks and the best and only one I get a signal with is Tesco Mob, who use O2, Tesco sims only deals are good as well.

Try the EE website ee.co.uk and you can order a free sim to be delivered ahead of your arrival, probably can do the same with other networks too, then you can test the reception of them all.
