I've had problems with Whatsapp since I got my Q10 in April.
When I download the app and open it, it says I'm in Jersey (I'm actually in the UK). I switch this to the UK and enter my mobile number, but nothing happens apart from receiving a text with a six-digit code. I input that code when prompted, but once the thing is up and running, it says that none of my contacts are on Whatsapp - which is not the the case at all.
When one of my contacts sends me a message via Whatsapp, it appears but without the contact's name.
I've had a look on CB but can't find anyone else who has the same problem. I also contacted Whatsapp directly, but although I received an auto-reply acknowledging my email, I have heard nothing more from them.
    Can anybody help me, please?

Have you tried adding + before your number? I know I have to do this with any of my overseas contacts.

Could you check permissions..? You have to allow WhatsApp to tap into your contacts... once you allow the permissions, restart your phone and it should be up and running...

If you already have the permissions on, restart your phone anyway.. the problem should be resolved after this... the first setup is always crazy with WhatsApp...

    Does this help you..?

Thanks to you both for your replies.

    Yes - I used +44 as a phone code.

But I checked the permissions and they were all turned off. I switched them on, and bravo!

It seems to be up and running now.

I've always had trouble in Whatsapp with international numbers... which is why I laugh when people praise it's phone # based 'simplicity'... such a piece of junk.

Anyway, have you tried 'refreshing' your contact list and then refreshing the 'favorites' (favs) list? Sometimes it takes them a while to match up the number you have in your contact list (with the -, () and space variations) with whatever they have on their servers.
