Wait, will this void my warranty? I realized this because my handset ear piece stopped working today!

The thread is called Legend presents 10.2.1.1925 something like that. The first post in there has the download files. There is only one for the z10 which applies to all the STL versions. On page 65 there is a post with instructions on how to load the leak. Basically you download the file and connect your phone to you PC. Backup using the latest BlackBerry Link software. Launch the downloaded file. Wait until it completes install. Go through the setup process like when you first get the phone. Restore your backup and that's it. That's just a summary. There is a separate thread where people are posting the issues and fixes for them. The issues are all really minor IMO with many being resolved after a few reboots, reloading an app or apk, or when the OS eventually settles in after a few hours. I recommend you take a look at that thread.

I sat down to try to do the leak install and I am embarrassed to say that I am clueless. I downloaded a file called Q10_10.2.01.1925_SQN100-1-2-3-4-5.7z (a link earlier in this thread). Is that the correct one for my Q10? And then I have no idea what to do! I looked on page 65 of the page that you reference but did not see instructions. Is there a crackberry post on exact step by step details? How can I know if this is the correct file for my phone? Thanks

    Good.

Step 2, backup your Q10 using BlackBerry Link.

Not sure that I understood. Do you mean that the file that I downloaded is the correct one? I already have my back ups. I use active sync with an exchange server so all contacts and calendar is there. All other important stuff I put on a memory card. Prefer to to use link and start fresh. What is step 3? Is there a clear step by step instructions somewhere?

Until recently 10.2.1 was a little unstable, but 10.2.1.1925 is considerably less buggy than previous releases. Still, 10.2.0.1809 is there if 10.2.1.1925 doesn't pan out.

As for waiting for Verizon, both the underlying core of 10.2.0.1233 and the updated files are quite a bit older than the newest 10.2.0 releases. To compare with the 10.2.0.1803 that T-Mobile apparently has ( T-Mobile USA BlackBerry Z10 OS 10.2.0.1803 Rolling Out - N4BB ), the newer 1803 release has definite improvements to cellular signal, along with the month's worth of bug fixes and performance improvements that come with operating systems; the build date of 1233 is 20 September 2013, while 1803 has a build date of 30 October 2013 and 1809 has a build date of 12 November 2013.
I went to try to install a leak. Downloaded a file called Q10_10.2.01.1925_SQN100-1-2-3-4-5.7z which is supposed to be the 1925 version for my phone (Q10, model SQN100-2). No clue what to do next. Tried the forums, just see them say to use an autoloader. Dont know what that is

The files you guys are downloading are zipped. You will need to use a utility like 7 zip to decompress them. Once decompressed there should be an .exe file. That is the autoloader

Launching the autoloader exe is what starts the installation

It's just insane Verizon customers have to go through this. I know this is nothing new to the topic, but Mr Chen should fix this delay in updates to US carriers.

I think its running. I downloaded the 7 zip that you suggested and ran the decompressed files. A dos type box came up and then the phone started to reboot, light was red and now turned green. I assume that this part will take some time. What do I expect next?

You may have to enter your device code once it restarts if you had one set. If so, watch the DOS box for this prompt.

After that you can expect it to start up again ad though you turned it in out of the box.

What some of us do, and I personally do, is to get through the initial startup stuff and do a security wipe right away. I am told this can help with clearing any residual files.

It's not necessary, so your call.

I guess that a security wipe leaves the OS in place but cleans anything else up? Won't revert back the 10.1?

Also, any idea, I use active sync. Can seem to find an option for it in this os. Just asks for email address and then the details of my server. I ran thru it and it set up the email fine. Did not sync contact and calendar though

I know everyone always thinks they know somebody or have the inside track so I will preface that this is speculation but from a Verizon Manager in Technical Support Center, not a sales rep or sales manager. He just randomly happened to be sitting at my table at a holiday party.

I was told it's all poor timing in the US. He admitted that yes VZW is typically slow but this time around its honestly not a priority. 10.2 was released to them to test and modify as the iPhone 5s, 5c, Note 3 were launching. Sales of those devices jammed up technical support. Then came the holidays and again sales and support took precedent. With Christmas over people have 14 days to return phones. He said to expect the release of 10.2 to come between January 8th and 15th.

Sent via my Q10 on VZW from Philly. My thumbs can't live without the physical keyboard!

    Correct, new OS remains.

After the security wipe it will start up on the choose your language screen and will still be on the new OS you installed.

    Enjoy!
