    Hi

I am sorry but I am not very tech savvy here. I recently got a q10. I have two email addresses that I use. One is a hotmail account and one is a work account. I do most of my work on a Macbook and on that I use Outlook for Mac 2011 as my main email program and both email addresses are set up on the program.

Both email addresses are also set up on my Q10 but when I go to clean up my inbox's for either account online through outlook.com or my work webmail account and when I say clean up that is deleting the rubbish and filing the emails I need to keep in subfolders, I then go back to the Q10 and the emails have disappeared.

I am not concerned about the spam or the newsletters that I have deleted but there are some emails I need to stay on the Q10 (the ones that I have filed) so that I can refer back to them at a later date, especially some emails that come into my work email account. Can someone advise me if there is a way to setup the email accounts on the Q10 so that all emails whether deleted or filed stay on the Q10. I had it this way with my Bold 9900 up until last week when I switched over.

I would be very grateful if anyone could talk me through it.

    Thanks

This is a feature coming in 10.2.1 for what you ask. It will be here real soon official probably around the 22nd for most countries.

Source? Last I checked official work was Q1 2014.

I am curious about this issue, he is deleting online and stuff is vanishing from the device. This is strange, in my book at least.

Oh okay thank you for that, I don't suppose you can help me with something else?. You see my computer setup above. I have about 1700 contacts that I need to sync over to my Q10 from my Macbook pro but when I tried to do it the first time some didn't come over and some did and contacts with multiple phone numbers had one or two of the numbers missing. I then tried to sync again and not everything came over again. I need to be able to sync contacts between my computer and my macbook regularly so I need to find a process that ensures that everything gets synced over.

I have since deleted all the contacts off my Q10 and deleted and reinstalled Blackberry Link and I was wondering before I maybe try and fail again, is there a way you can suggest that ensures a complete sync of all contacts with every contact having all their information?.

    Hopefully thanks in advance….

Does that mean whatever happens, there is a fix for this coming in an BB operating system update at some point in the first months of 2014. I don't mind waiting, I just need to know the fix will come in the next software update?. If I delete emails or file them in Outlook for Mac 2011, nothing disappears from the device. It only happens when I do it online through outlook.com or my work webmail account?.

This was said during the BlackBerry jam android conference whether it's true I don't know.

You can have the fix right now of you are willing to load the update through a leak. Not recommended if you aren't familiar with the processes to install leaks.

Thanks for this to begin with but what about for regular syncing as I was still having the issue where I would sync and it would not always work as it should.

I have had a look on the forums and watch the crackberry.com video which mentions it but I am not sure if that new feature gives me a solution for my issue because I am not concerned about deleting emails from my device, its when I clean up my inboxes online and the emails disappear from my device that worries me. Sorry if I am missing something but as I said I am not very tech savvy.

Dave, funny you should be helping someone else out as well ...can I ask you something, and sorry Ben, I don't mean to hijack your thread...

When I read an email on my Q, and then open the email in my windows mail on my desktop...the email disappears from my Q...is there anyway for me to read the email on my desktop without it being removed from my Q? or is this the same idea (this functionality will only be available via the next os release)?

    Thanks man

I'm not sure why it disappears for your guys. But my guess is when you read an email it auto sends to another folder? And the Q10 for whatever reason can't see it.

It's weird because I never had this problem with any of my legacy devices (9900, 9700, 8920)....

I'm rather disappointed with this at the moment..

Email gets handled differently on BB10
If you delete a message online from your INBOX or move it to a folder it will do the same on your phone. You can look at the phone like a mirror of your main mailbox. Basically your phone is just another mail client. This is how Android works too. Old style OS7 would get the mails of the BB server that pulled them from your outlook or whatever accounts so there where two copies...

Just reading a message without moving it or deleting it should NOT make it disappear of your phone but will make it marked read.

Yea...I see that bb10 works differently, but I don't even move the emails around...when I get a new email, I'll read it on my phone when I'm at work, and then when I get home I go onto my desktop and read the email in its entirety. When my windows mail is open on my desktop, the email still shows on my bb, but when I'm done with my emails, and I close the windows mail on the desktop, my BlackBerry almost "refreshes" and all the emails I have received on the bb, dissapear.

    Strange I guess...

There is a setting you need to fix. I'm not sure what though.
