    I'm not sure if anyone has this issue. I use shortcut Email (name) and the Q10 pulls up a Compose screen where I can write a new email, can add Send To, etc., but when I click SEND, it does not send. I notice the Account field is missing my email account. and the SEND button is grey-ed out. but my email account is already set up in the Hub.
    Is there something I forgot to set?

    I have just tried this and got exactly the same outcome as you. I was wondering if it was to do with Default services but I have set them up and they're fine, so it's not that.

    Have you tried composing a BBM in the same way. That works fine for me.

    Maybe it's a quirk.

    BBM, and text work just fine. I notice if I type Email and choose to compose without a name first, then add a name later when I'm in the Compose screen, then it works. But if I go "Email <name>", it doesn't work. Must be a kink BlackBerry needs to fix soon

    Mine works fine. I type email, compose email, and it automatically has my gmail as the one it uses ( I also have 5 other emails but the first one it goes to is gmail, which is the first one I setup on the q10)

    Just checked and I have the same issue. Went to email settings and have Yahoo as my standard email, so expected that one to show up in the account tab. Running 10.1.0.283 by the way.

    maybe it would be a good idea to Keep this thread alive and post so that Blackberry-Support recognizes the problem

    Funny I see this post bumped today.... the same thing happened to me and I was amazed this wasn't tested.

    This bug And the "text name" bug that creates a new text of your contacts phone number only and not name.

    On my q10 it comes up with the number but after you hit send it changes to the name and becomes part of the convo

    Adding my name to the party.

    I noticed this the first day I got my AT&T Q10 (running v 10.1.0.2006) and thought I just misunderstood how it was supposed to work.

    I've been able to get it to work, but not with the sensible default way that BB was touting as their big whoop-de-doo Q10 instant action feature of "email <name>"

    If I just type "mail" or "email" -- without a person's name-- and then hit enter, the account selector pulldown DOES appear, with my default email account auto-selected.

    If I type "mail from" or "email from" -- I also get the account selector pulldown (and my default account selected), with an empty To field.

    Same for if I type "mail fred" -- when there is no fred in my contact list... I get the account selector, and there is no "fred" auto-entered into the To field. (i.e. the "mail from" isn't anything special.. the "from" is just viewed as an unknown contact.)

    If I type "mail john" and hit enter faster than it can finish the universal search and pre-select for me the first "John" from my contact list, I get the same results.. an account selector but nothing in the To field. But if I pause and let the universal search complete, then I get no account selector.

    So basically, I've just been typing "email" and hitting enter as a workaround, and then adding recipients the old fashioned way. But still. Considering BB was falling all over themselves about this being one of the great features of the Q10, how the hell did their Q&A department miss this??

    For that matter -- how did Crackberry miss this when they reviewed the Q10? ;-) ;-) ;-)

    I noticed something today when I typed Email and hit Space bar. Then hit the little gray triangle on the right, right under COMPOSE EMAIL, it'd give me a list of my facebook friends who list their emails on their pages.

    Now if I click on one of those emails, my email account will be selected as default and I can send.

    Seems like this function only works for facebook contacts... weird

    I just found this How to use BlackBerry Q10 Instant Action! �Inside BlackBerry Help Blog page where the bug was "reported" to BB and their answer to the person was "We will need to do further investigation on this matter and analyze device logs. Please contact your mobile service provider and ask to speak with BlackBerry Technical support." That was over 2 weeks ago. Sheesh. Anyone with an account there want to go smack them around?

    That's a pathetic answer from BlackBerry. This is not a service provider related issue. This is a issue with their OS which I do hope was addressed in the recent update, (which I'm hesitant to get as they remove features I loved on the Q10 - Black Calandar... but that's a whole new topic). I digress...

    Back on track, BlackBerry needs to solve this mess and I too am shocked it got released with this major bug in one of their flagship feature.

    Please fix BlackBerry.


    Once you go Black, you don't go back. Q10 baby.
