Popped into my local EE store and was handed a dummy Q10 handset.

Apparently a week or two until they receive stock.

Is anyone else on T-Mobile UK or Orange UK waiting for the Q10, in order to upgrade to 4G?

Just wondering, is there any point of getting the Q10 on 4g given the small screen and letter box video viewing on youtube?

Just a question.. what do you think?

Erm.... that is a deep question, its 10:30 pm at night and I've had a few drinks..... but i'll try.....

    Its subjective I guess.

1 - 4G has advantages way beyond just watching youtube videos. Viewing large attachments, for instance, and just generally fast browsing

2 - I find the screen of my 9900 perfectly adequate for viewing youtube videos.

I'm sure there is plenty more to say/debate/discuss here.

    I beg to differ:
4G is a con, a total waste of money for idiots like me...

My house ADSL runs at 12MB
    My 3G Q10, with HSPA+, hits 20Mb...
    4g...hits between 40mb to 120Mb

    now unless i'm downloading blu ray dvds... i really don't need more than 3MB on a handset..let alone 5, 6, 12, 20 etc.

Most streaming can be done well at 2MB.

4G is just way to make dumb consumers pay for the upgrade of networks that can't handle the data.
    IMHO

4G is fast and for nerds. To which I count myself but I can't justify for me the stupid horrendous charges that EE want for 500MB of data. Three will offer 4G at no extra cost which is great but not around the corner. Recently I got 11Mbit download on 3G via Three so not too fussed about blowing my money up EE's network posts.

I have a sim with a 20gb 4G EE download limit.. so im wondering if the Q10 will be a waste if the videos from youtube are mostly letterboxed (not that i will mostly watch videos but sometimes would be nice).

With 2G and 3G using google maps, there is a delay of at least a minute when pressing i or o (in out) on my 9900 before a viewable new map appears.

If this is instantaneous on 4G, then (to me, for the profession I am in) that alone is worth the extra 5 a month.

Fair comment about the speeds, though.

EE/T-Mobile are now advising launch on Mon 20th May, possibly a little earlier. Noooooooooooo

I shall prepare to walk in that case.

The gap between my early termination penalty to leave T-Mobile (to go to vodafone etc) and the lower penalty to upgrade to EE (33% off the former) is narrowing day-by-day.......

If it wasn't for the fact that their coverage really is the best (from my experience of my second phone being o2, and previously carrying a work vodafone) in the places I typically go, I would have left EE 2 weeks ago.

    What to do!

Sadly a false alarm. The big EE store in the major city where I live doesn't have stock. I called 150 and was advised its presently pre-orders through the website only.

Mikey, did you order one yesterday?

If anyone else is on 4G with EE (UK) please could I trouble them to answer this question I have asked in the BlackBerry 10 subforum.
