In my contacts when I hit edit, I am able to hear a custom rington when people call me but when I set custom sms tone and people text me it doesnt work. What is the problem? Need help?

I believe the SMS ringtone has to be set seperately.

Currently, you cannot customize the ringtone for SMSs at all unless you download an app like BeBuzz 10 Pro (which works relatively well except for the fact that you essentially have to turn your phones internal notifications off for it to work). You can only customize phone, email and BBM ringtones which has been a pet peeve of mine as it's yet another area where BlackBerry has gone backwards from BlackBerry OS.

You must still be on stock OS? the official update, .4200 in fact has removed that option to customize SMS tone. I don't know about later leaks though.
