I haven't seen any rebooting apps in BB World, and I used to use one daily on my old Torch. Is there a key sequence that will do the reboot?

Press and hold the power off button... You can then choose restart if you want to.

Well on the Bold 9930 it is left alt + right shift + del. Try that out, should work if they left all the shortcuts in on the Q10

They didn't! Most shortcuts are history. I will try that one.

    Restarting is simple.
Power button, then select restart from the screen.

Someone mentioned a longer press on the power button to do some sort of 'full restart' but not sure on the difference as the phone reboots on 'restart'

Thanks! I'm glad that the power button actually reboots rather than just suspends the phone.

It's because you have password lock enabled.

Its better. Doesn't allow the OS to save stuff since it kills the power. Like physically pulling the battery.

if the phone locks up for whatever reason, holding on the power button for a couple seconds won't do anything and you won't get the screen shot posted in your post because the phone will be frozen. Holding it for 10 seconds just kills the power to the device so it shuts off, then you press it again to turn it back on. Alternatively, I've heard that holding the volume up and down keys at the same time for 10 seconds performs a hard reset in that it kills the power and then restarts the phone automatically.

Hopefully you shouldn't have to reboot your Q10 on a daily basis. If you do have to then you are having a problem with your device.

The memory on BB10 is completely different then on legacy device. In theroy no more leaking apps and stuff like that. Here is hoping anyways!

On a side note, I have only had to restart my Q10 once because it froze, and it did a random reboot once as well. Other then that, no problems and I always have plenty of free memory.

BlackBerry 10 devices don't require reboots like the old BlackBerrys. They just keep on truckin'.

There's no benefit, but the reset will reset your device, and holding the power button down will shutdown your device.

This is the last post I'll make about this topic.

Remember back in the BBOS days when a soft reset (Shift + Alt + Del) sometimes didn't fix an issue and a battery pull did?

That is because a battery pull kills the power. A soft reset allowed the OS to save some stuff, and as stupid as it may seem, said bugs got "saved", ready to be loaded on the next boot.

Now, for the Q&Z (Like the PlayBook) ..
Holding the top button until you see the shutdown screen or tapping reset allow the OS for a proper shutdown.

Holding the top button or both volume rockers for 10~ seconds kills the power, akin a battery pull.

    Note:
There was no way to kill the power using buttons on BBOS, this is a new "feature".
