Could someone please upload a video to youtube showing a ported android version of Google Maps running on the Q10.

This is one of the only apps that is stopping me from making the switch!

I just recently moved to a new state and have been using g maps on my iphone extensively, but I am aware that google will most likely never release a BB native version, so I am wondering how good the android ports work. I don't care at all about the z10 to please leave all z10 comments out of this thread.

    Thanks

You say leave out all Z10 comments but uh, it runs pretty much the same as it does on the Z10, only on a smaller screen lol.

I guess I was under the impression that there were different ports being used for the z10 than q10, my mistake!

Just use maps.google.com. It's basically the same thing as the app.

so maps.google.com works OK for transit directions. the blue arrow for looking up directions sometimes doesn't work - got to turn on Flash in your browser settings (I don't know why this isn't On by default!) and also seems like you got to be logged into a Google account.

maps.nokia.com aka here.com works even better in the browser than Google maps.

Unfortunately native maps is horrible in comparison to Google maps. Points of interest are basically non existent.

    Hopefully BlackBerry fixes this.

Here's a special version of Google Maps for BB10 & PlayBook that I modified to get rid of the force closes (crashes) that you'd get from trying to go into certain areas of the application (namely settings was the biggest offender here) : http://forums.crackberry.com/android...nabled-819130/

That version does have public transit routes and walking paths in there as well.
