Ok I bought an nice new shinny Q10 in early Nov, I do love the devise but turns out my Company will not support the BB OS 10 operating system. They tell me in order to get my Exchange e-mail I must downgrade to a OS 7 devise. I wish to know if I can downgrade the OS 10 on my Q10 to the same OS 7.0 that is on the 9900?

If so how do I do this, Otherwise I will be forced to sell my nice new shinny Q10 which I do not want to do. BTW my company is a Fortune 50 company and they say they will not upgrade to OS 10. They have however started a program to use BB software on other Smart phones which will be my 3rd choice if I can not get the Q 10 downgraded. (Second choice is a new 9900).

    Thanks in advance

If you are asking that question then go throw your Q10 in the trash, and go use a 10 year old Nokia brick phone

No, you cannot downgrade like that.
Now, if your company supports BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) they probably use Microsoft Exchange Active Sync. Which the Q10 can use. My work doesn't support BlackBerry at all and I use EAS with my Q and my work issued iPhone

Ok.. Before the vultures attack I will try and help you out.

Unfortunately you cannot convert a BlackBerry 10 device to a legacy OS (OS 7 for example). The hardware and software are not compatible.

As for getting Exchange emails on your Q10 it may be possible and your IT folks do not know it or due to security they have it locked down. The Q10 and other BlackBerry 10 devices are capable and work well with Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, a Microsoft communication platform that is integrated in Exchange and other platforms.

If they allow iPhones or Android devices then chances are they support ActiveSync, but they may be using another Mobile Device Management system that does not work with BlackBerry 10 devices.

So here are the potential setups that they have:
    • They are using BES 5 and do not allow ActiveSync connections - If this is the case then you the Q10 will not work and neither would Android devices or iPhones.
    • They are using BES 5 and have another MDM that works with iPhones or Androids, but does not support a Q10.
    • They are using BES 5 and have ActiveSync open - It will work with your Q10, iPhones and Androids.

There may also be the case the it will technically work with their email system, but they do not want to have an additional platform to support.

Chances are you will need to downgrade to a legacy OS 7 device, but it doesn't hurt to press the topic.

If your Company used OWA Exchange and have ActiveSync Enabled, that is most common feature at company level, you could get your corporative email in your device without need BES 10 server...

    Talk with the IT administrator...

That is true if they allow access to it. That is what I do actually. Works great but IT has to configure the server to allow this type of access.

It does through Active Sync or the BES for BB10. But they apparently don't have that version of BES. The server has to be configured to allow the Active Sync connection.
