Probably wasn't actually brand new. Probably a refurbished handset. I bought a few from sellers on ebay that were listed as new, but were actually refurbished. Finally found an honest seller the fourth time, and they sold me 2 that were actually brand new.

Q10 has a loose battery and it will restart when it's bumped or shaken. Shove a paper behind the battery cover.

It's the infamous Q10 loose battery syndrome. Search these CB Q10 forums and you'll find lots of reports of this and solutions. Most involve a piece of folded card over the battery top end to push it towards (and tighten against) the contacts ; works well - and fixed it for me.

I will suggest a new battery purchase, that will probably fix it.

I had the same problem back then and a new battery didn't resolved the problem. I think in my case was a failure with the phone. Countless OS updates and reinstalls and the problem never went away. The phone would turn on, then it will reboot once, and then it will work fine. That was always the problem

Second what Mushroom said. Folded up half a business card and put it between the battery and the removable back and no longer had this issue.

I found the amzer combo holster case kept the back cover from moving and allowing the battery to disconnect.
