hold the volume buttons on the side for 10 seconds. Once it reboots it will be fine.

Sometimes after an update it can stick there for 30 minutes or more. Let it do its thing.

Ive tried the volume thing dude, no luck.

and it wasnt during the update it it was after, as i downgraded to 10.2.1
I then couldnt restore a backup, so had no choice but to upgrade backup to 10.3
however when starting the process it stayed on 1percent for an hour so i turned the device off. now it is stuck on the "blackberry" screen.

Just run the 10.3.1.2267 autoloader then. That will give you a clean, fresh install.

Ok thanks dude I will try that when I get in. But does my computer have to recognise the bb as I'm not sure it's responding to it being plugged in

Turn off phone. Double click on auto loader, connect usb and turn on phone. If PC has previously connected to the phone, upgrade should begin in seconds.

Download the latest version of Link which can only be obtained from the Blend package at www.blackberry.com/blend

This will install the latest drivers.

You should be able to run the autoloader without issue.

Nowjust hoping it works, plus hope i can use the restore backup i made from the previous os, then at least i can sleep at night knowing i havent lost everything!

do you know by any chance if 10.3.1.2267 is definatly the newest os for Q10, as i was definatly on the newest one when i did a backup, i just dont want it to say "your os is old we cant give you your contacts back"

    It's the newest.

Try it a bit first before you restore. You will note that everything works awesome. If you lose functionality after doing your restore, then you know your backup is corrupt. At which point I would backup your contacts using a third party app like Ultimate Backup, and then running the autoloader again without a Link restore.

But please install the Link software from the Blend package. It is newer and works much better with 10.3.1.
