It's super frustrating for sure.

I've decided to give up pkb phones altogether, and I've ordered a Z30.

If I absolutely can't stand it, I'll go back to the Q10.

Technically, if you're the only company making keyboarded phones, you aren't lying if you say "the best keyboard." Pretty easy to win a one-horse race.

I got my BlackBerry Bold 9900 yesterday and after some updates and installing my favourite apps, I got the peace of mind and business tranquillity... I'll get a BlackBerry Classic ONLY IF there is no double typing issues. So in the meantime I am out of this thread.

It's unfortunate that this problem is spread to the Classic and Passport as well. This could have been fixed if BlackBerrry acknowledge they have a problem with the Q10 and addressed it early.

So after 19 lovely months issue free and telling a couple buddies that they are on crack regarding this double typing issue...well Its now begun to happen on my device. I use my Q10 as my work device and its used daily. I thought it was just a bad batch in a select few but clearly it has affected all or does affect all at some point based on usage. Thankfully in my case, its sparse and not consistent.

My upgrade is later this year and I plan to go with a Classic but I can't help but feel a little sour regarding this.

It really depends on the phone. I had (and still have in some drawer) one of the first white Q10. Had double type issues and got my keyboard replaced. Problem reappeared after like 2 weeks. Had the chance to grab a newer Q10 for a very cheap price and it is perfect.

The difference: the keyboard of the newer phone is by far more "clicky". I. Would bet that I can distinct a flawless Q10 from a double type one just by using the keyboard for a minute without the actual problem even occurring.

Great. I'd rather disassemble and replace the keyboard than deal with BlackBerry, honestly.

Last August got a "refurb" Q10 from AT&T(thank you). Problem with a weird notice to continually use my speed dial number, bogus. Backup, download OS, Restore. Still had problem. Called AT&T. They replaced it. Had a "slight double type issue," with it. Replacement so far to good.

Ok I don't recommend doing what I did unless you're willing to take the risk. Here's the deal. My Q10 working perfectly over a year. I drop it andthe double typing starts. I read all the forums and can't fix SOOO I gently toss my phone from sitting at couch level with a spin onto my carpet. No sh#* double typing is gone.

After reading a few pages here, i now have come to the decision to never go the classic or q10 way. Guess I'm sticking to my trusted z30. I haven't read a lot about double typing in Q5 though.

Z30 / STA100-5 /10.3.1.1784 (no more double-typing Q10).

I haven't taken a Q5 apart, so I don't know. Looking through the Crackberry forums, no Q5 owners have ever complained of double-typing, so honestly it's not much more than an assumption.

I don't have any data to back it up.

I've also noticed that there are no (few?) Q5 owner complaints. Just wondered if there was a significant difference between the Q5 and Q10 keyboards.

Yes. I am a former Q10 double typing victim who converted to the Q5.

I'm a big advocate of the Q5. Just get an Amzer soft shell case to bulk it up slightly and it's a great experience.
