Just replace the keypad. I did and it's perfect.

How would I do that? Is it difficult / time consuming / costly?

I just bought a new keyboard for <$10. There are a few how to vids on youtube so I will either try it myself or have a shop do it. People say it's not hard but the small size of the screws and connectors may be too much for me.

Sorry I should have said take it somewhere to get replaced. I went to a shop in Calgary while I was there for work and it took an hour but my double typing issue is gone.

Just go to ebay, get a new keyboard (recommend to get with tools) and change it yourself. You can easily search for instructions on Youtube

PR nightmare means potential loss of customers. Ignoring the issues resulted in me leaving the brand after a decade. Potential loss of customer either way but I would not have given up had they addressed the issue and been there for someone who had supported them for so long. They barely addressed the PlayBrick's faults too (multiple returns for dead pixels out of the box but no address about sunken keys or faulty charging docks). It's all a little much, or perhaps not enough, for me to be spending another $500+ on. The Classic, with its mediocre specs and potential KB issues was $100 less than the Xperia Z3 Compact. It was an easy pick, even for someone who thought they needed a PKB phone and carried one for the past 10 years.
Nothing else needs to be said.

Hey guys, just letting you know that I will be on my FIFTH keyboard soon. That's right - five keyboards in less than two years. I think this one has lasted the shortest amount of time compared to the ones before it.

I hope the BB10 slider will not be plagued by this issue.

I feel for you. But I can't say I'm surprised.

It's interesting to see Classic and Passport owners go through the same thing as their devices hit the approximately 6 month mark. A significant number of them are trying to convince themselves it's not a hardware issue... and that it will be resolved via a software update.

    Been there, done that.

.....but judging by the number of participants in th thread, it appears that far fewer people are experiencing the issue on the Classic than had at the six month mark on the Q10.
Hardly scientific though since as far as I see, we have know idea how many Q or Classics actually went to market over a six month time frame.

My recently purchased, 2015 Q10 is beginning to double-type. I've run into it twice in the past few days. Pretty disappointed, but it's not bad...yet.

It's under warranty, so depending where you are, the repair should be free (through your carrier).

Disappointing for sure. Such a sexy phone, if not for this terrible flaw.

I recall it took me a while to realize (and accept) it was a hardware problem. And maybe, just maybe, the Classic and Passport keyboards can withstand a bit more use before they fail.

Perhaps the possible false indicators are due to the number of people with Classic issues posting their comments on the Classic Forum and not on the Q10 forum.

There are some people who claim their Q10s have never developed double-typing even after a year. Maybe you'll get lucky!

Some carriers are strict with replacement policies. For example, AT&T almost didn't replace my Bold 9900 when it had a trackpad that scrolled up in sunlight because the problem was intermittent (it didn't happen indoors). It's worth a try, though.

Be careful, there are still some people in the Q10 forum who still believe it's a software problem!

Every time I've replaced my keyboard, the problem disappeared. Then a few months later, it reappears. It didn't matter which software update I was on; the problem is definitely hardware related.

Give it a whirl ... maybe you'll get lucky. If not, it's not TOO difficult to replace the keyboard yourself. If you do go that route, you can find tutorials on Youtube, as well as on Crackberry. I've done it a couple of times now, and could probably do it with one hand tied behind my back.

    Good luck!

Hi all, I bought my blackberry q10 since 1st of June and recently I have experienced double typing issues. It goes like... when I type a and it produces aa. It happens to most of the key on the keypad.

Some of the times, it doesn't occur like now however it does happen everyday at least once or twice. Do you guys think sending it into the blackberry offical repair shop will resolve the issues? Since this is a known defect on the legacy devices like bold 9780 and 9900.

    Thanks in advance!!
