    Default BlackBerry Q10 'double typing issue'

    Hi all, I bought my blackberry q10 since 1st of June and recently I have experienced double typing issues. It goes like... when I type a and it produces aa. It happens to most of the key on the keypad.

    Some of the times, it doesn't occur like now however it does happen everyday at least once or twice. Do you guys think sending it into the blackberry offical repair shop will resolve the issues? Since this is a known defect on the legacy devices like bold 9780 and 9900.

    Before thinking of returning it to get it fixed, I say perform a factory reset. Test it and see how it performs. If it performs okay, I'm manually install apps, etc.

    I wouldn't perform a restore from a backup, in case something in that is causing said issue. Did this seem to start to happen after installing a particular app?

    I can't seems to remember the which apps I downloaded that cause it.. but I have read it somewhere it is most likely to be a hardware issue.

    Is it true?

    I haven't experienced this so far so it's probably an app causing the double type issue.

    Started another post on same. Tried everything and thought it acts like water damage, even though it never got wet. Tri ed hairdryer, and all told, it must be a hardware issue I think.

    Hmm, if you're within 30 days or so, I'd take it back to the shop where you bought it and ask to have it replaced...

    I know exactly what you are talking about except for me it only happens when I'm typing in my device password. Not every time single time but here and there it does double up the letters. The issue has never popped up when I type out texts,bbm and emails. Even while I type this all is fine.

    Defective keyboard. Have it replaced/repaired.

    ...as a test, set the language for the keyboard from English (US), to English (UK). Restart the device and see if that makes a difference. Just curious.

    This problem just started to happen the last few days I tried a restart, battery pull and a wipe of the phone and it still does it now and then I got my Q10 in may...

    This past week my Q10 has been doing this too. At first I thought it was me but it's as described by others.

    Maybe an OS update will fix it.
    Have any of you guys updated to a leak or otherwise and rid the problem since reporting it?

    Well it just started to happen to me the last few days and I've been on the same OS from rogers since the last update over a month ago it's so weird out of the blue

    Yeah same. It just happen out of the blue and I did not put my phone through any leaks. It's all official OS from my carrier 'starhub'
    I'm planning to send it the the official blackberry centre to repair it by next week.

    Hmmm. Same here. I thought I was going crazy and musst have changed my typing habits and did a search as an afterthought. I am not liking this keyboard stuttering plague!

    It happened on my 9780, I changed the keyboard paper at last, and it fixed!

    Yes I will be sending it in tomorrow and will update you guys accordingly.

    Anyway, you mentioned by changing the keyboard paper. Is it the keyboard membrance?

    I spoke to a BB tech support, a Rogers tech support and front line receiver for repairs. To my chagrin all had encountered the same problem. As the device was only released less than 50 days ago, I find that alarming. I wonder who has the stats on this particular issue and if anyone has figured out a common cause or whether some were just made with this defect......

    Hi all, I just sent my blackberry q10 to the blackberry expert centre yesterday and have been amazed by the speed they repaired it!
    I got my phone just today and everything seems to be fine now. They said they had replaced my keypad and it types out perfectly now *fingers crossed*

    I'm in singapore so I have it sent to the blackberry official repair centre which is stationed at the Cathy in Orchard.
