So, i'm going to take a stab and say that this isn't normal.

    Battery Woes on my Q10-img_20151203_160805.png

I've had similar issues on my Z30, but it was remedied after a security wipe & factory reset.
I've tried that with my Q10, to no avail(this screenshot is post reset & wipe)

Does anyone have any idea what "standby" is?

I assumed it was cell standby, however even airplane mode doesn't stop the drain of standby.

    I would appreciate any help

So I'm assuming no one else has this issue given the lack of response. I'll try a factory reset(again) and post back if it fixes the issue.

Just for clarification, when you did the security wipe and factory reset, did you leave the device 'vanilla' or did you restore all of your apps and settings?

It seems to me that, in theory, the most likely culprits would be 1) a rogue app; 2) some garbled setting; 3) a hardware fault; and at least as an additional complication now, 4) a damaged battery (Li-ion batteries should never be discharged below 20%, and your screenshot shows it at 2%).

My own experience is that it's always been an android app. I have to be quite careful about which ones I install. Some are perfectly fine. Others seem to run in the background -- even when you apparently shut them down -- and kill the battery extremely quickly.

I'm sure others will be able to offer other possibilities. I also found this thread, which might be helpful: https://supportforums.blackberry.com...y/td-p/3078512

I never restore as I had issues on BBOS devices when restoring apps, however I did not run the device vanilla.

As for Android apps, I have: Kindle, 17Track, and TD Banking. (plus default appstore & shopping)

I've never had issues with any other device with regards to battery life when discharged below 20%, however I do my best to avoid it if at all possible. The only reasoning for 2% in that screenshot was that I was at work and checked my phone on break to find it at said level.

I'll check and see if there is any android app running hidden.

I've had issues with standby sucking battery power, and they seem to be much worse in recent months. Used to, if my phone was below 20%, I could just set it down and charge it in a few hours. Last night, my batt shows at being above 30%, but died in a matter of hours on bedside mode. Haven't restored my phone, but I can see an android app background run as the probable problem...

I've wiped the device, and am currently running it with just native apps & accounts(FB, Twitter, LInkedIn, two e-mail((one EAS))). Will post updates & if it works well, install android apps one at a time to find the culprit.

Note: currently 2hr in, the device is cool to the touch. Going to start restoring NATIVE apps.

Edit: Amazon was the culprit. Surprisingly enough. As soon as I installed it, the phone began heating up again. All other apps had no effect on battery life

As am i! however i would have never assumed Kindle to be the culprit. it's an eReader app. why would it get stuck?

Still interested into meaning of "standby"? There has been some complaints or whatever about the Amazon app.

I'm not sure why it would be referred to as standby, but it seems to be linked hand-in-hand with the android player.

And this issue was with the Kindle app. Not amazon shopping or appstore

No idea. You might search for an old version of the app that still works. Maybe an older one won't create the battery drain problem. I searched "old kindle apk" and there are a bunch of them on XDA. There's even one here (http://forums.crackberry.com/playboo...pk-bar-831857/) but I haven't tested it to see if it still works.

I used the old version, actually. So i'm even more confused. I tried the newer one this morning & the drain is still there. So ill just carry my playbook around.

    Interesting.

I was on an older version (with just the Amazon App Store) then got the OTA 10.3.2.2813 Today and a new "Amazon" was installed as my 4th app
on the first screen. This seems to be the Amazon proper website (coded as an app). Is that the one that is causing problems?

No. Amazon Kindle. For reading books. The appstore has no effect, nor does their shopping app. I use both and have no battery drain from either of those.

I wonder if it's trying to index your books and failing. Do you have an SD card? Do you have encryption enabled? Are there kindle folders on both the device and the card?

Passport owners have reported the same problem. There's some interesting information on this thread: http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...drain-1005022/ There are suggestions for settings changes in the thread and an apk file that some claim ends the problem.

If you search google, it seems that the Kindle app causes battery trouble for android users too.

    Regarding the last graph.
In my opinion, over 60% in 8.5 hours with PIM taking just 7% is not good. Unstable 3g reception? Old battery?

I work in a building with incredibly low reception. However I run WiFi only(the building has guest wifi) while i'm not on break. I've forgotten to turn off mobile data and paid for it battery wise previously.

Also @shuswap yes I have an encrypted microSD card, but no there isn't a kindle folder there. However when I get home i'll take a look at that link. Thanks!

^ that's my WiFi toggled usage now. So WiFi only when in low service areas, mobile network enabled when in standard service areas.
