    Hello,

    I'm on the fence about a Nexus 5 or a Blackberry Q10.

The expandable memory, removable battery and the physical keyboard are the only reasons why I would be getting a BBQ10.

Is only getting a BB for the physical keyboard a good enough reason to buy one? Or should I just suck it up and get a software keyboard?

    Thanks

I have both Android and Q10SQN100-3/10.2.1.2758, I picked the Q10 as my daily driver as it has a keyboard, and to me the only apps I am missing are hangout and my credit card processing app.

Well it boils down to you, people will tell you various opinions.

At the end of the day, you're the one using it.

Yes I only use Q10 for physical keyboard. Typing is fast. However, OS is highly premature. I am planning to go back to Bold 9900 or buy a samsung Note ( because of large soft keyboard) or iphone with a Typo keyboard.
Imagine you cannot search contacts, notes, tasks etc deeply (other than main fields). Phone callls do not show details, and many more basic things.

Absolutely, I am mainly using the Q10 for that reason as well. If I'd go full touch I probably wouldn't use a BlackBerry.

I have both a Q10 and a Z30. I love both. I frequently move from one to the other. However I almost always use the Q10 as my daily driver when I know I absolutely need to get it done fast and correctly the first time...but then again once you get the hang of the Z30 keyboard you can also move pretty fast. At the end of the day it all comes down to what is right for you.

I only got the Q10 cuz it looks so awesome. I have a Z10 as my personal and my Q as work phone. I prefer the bigger screen. I like typing on the Q a bit better I really just love how it looks.

Me. I'm using a Q10 just because of the physical keyboard and it was the only successor of the Bold 9900 at the time. I'm disappointed at the absence of the trackpad and function keys/toolbelt, but I want a keyboard phone so I got it anyway. Now with the Q20/Classic on the way, if given the choice between Q10 and Q20, I'd pick the Q20 hands-down because of the keyboard + trackpad + function keys/toolbelt.

Not me. I have an S4 but I wanted to have a BlackBerry again. I found a good deal on a Q10 so I bought it, with some trepidation about how I'd handle the transition from Swype to qwerty.

The OS does still have some things that need work but I actually like being part of that evolution.

I also have a Nexus 5 and Q10. The N5 is a beautiful device, no problems at all. I am currently using my Q10 though. It does all the general things I need. I love the physical keyboard and universal search. I love its compact size. I like having the ability to swap out the battery. It took me a bit but I haven't used my N5 in a few weeks.

Battery life was the number 1 reason, followed by the keyboard. But now I have a slight case of 'double typing' and the battery has fallen ill after 10.2.1.

soon as the z30 go on sale...the q will have a well behaved big brother.

Yes, I am. In my daily work, I usually use mail to communicate with staff in company and customer, the physical keyboard is very good for typing, my blackberry experience is from 9780, 9900 then Q10, they are all cell phone with keyboard!

I bought the Q10 for a multitude of reasons including the keyboard. It's great to have a device that is so great at communication and organization. Add to that the keyboard, battery, and overall appearance and this is a winner for sure. Never been happier to move from Android and ios before.

The primary use of my Q10 is for business ... I'm normally knocking out 75-100 emails per day.

So personally yes, I have the Q10 mainly for its awesome keyboard. When I want more of a media device I pull out my Z10

I waited for the Q10 because of the physical keyboard and and I'm glad I did. The device is awesome and the recent OS update to 10.2.1 has been like getting a brand-new phone! Go Q10!

Battery life was a factor for me too. I got fair battery life on the Z10, but I definitely had to nurse it through the day; turn off swipe to unlock, etc.

I'm not seeing any degradation in battery with 10.2.1, though. Well, let me rephrase that, since the phone came with 10.2.1.2228, so I'm not in a position to see degradation. Rather, I'm getting what I consider good battery life. My personal standard is, I should be able to take the phone off the charger in the morning, use it all day, and have some reserve left when I put it back on the charger when I go to bed. So, I want 16 hours of use without having to drain it to zero. I'm getting that, with my usage, which I consider moderate.

I am typing this from my Q10. I have all BB10 devices, but have chosen Q10 as my daily driver after trying all 4 of them. In addition to BlackBerry I have iToy 5S and besides BB10 advantages over other OS, the experience of using Q10 as "get it done" device is much better. Z30 for example got the name "serial procrastinator" because it's beautiful screen was always seducing me to watch a movie over doing something productive. So to answer OP's question - I am using Q10 because it representing true BlackBerry to me.

Yes, I chose the Q10 precisely for the keyboard. The first time I held one (in a Verizon store last summer), I knew this was the phone I'd been looking for.
