So, i finally found a spot to get a brand new Q10 for about 200 bucks, but still find myself hesitant because of the "double typing issue'" that some users reported.

Just wanted to know if there were long time Q10 users who haven't experienced this issue, or if its somewhat of a guarantee to happen.

Is a 5-month user long enough? My keyboard is doing ok so far (though honestly I haven't used it that heavily, just short messages and I utilize the prediction text option)...

I was thinking about getting another Q10 in the hopes of snagging a problem free unit this time (my 2 year old Q10 has been double typing for about 18 months)

I know that "new " q10s are pretty cheap right now but I can't bring myself to buy technology that is not new and that has a likelihood of developing this known problem.

I'm even reading about the Classic and Passport already developing double typing.

So I'm trying out the Q5 as my daily phone. So far not bad. I'm 95 % email, text and BBM so the Q5 works for me and I like its size to work with.

About 12m here, no issues at all, the new upgrade has made the Q10 even better. Forget my Z10 and SG5.

yea i have used mine for 5 months but trust me the milage on it and abuse is more like 2 years worth ... multiple drops ... by accident of course .. and well over 200 000 txt msgs in that short time .. so yea .. its already earned its keep. and no dual typing ...

6 month owner. Was a never opened new SQN100-1 from Rogers. Being totally honest, I have had a few double types, but nothing consistent or frequent. I never had it on my 9900, but my wife did on hers and we bought them at the same time. Mine was much better taken care of over the course of 2+ years.

I think how hard one presses and if they use the pad of their thumbs or their thumb nails to type makes the difference between those who double type and those who don't. Nail presses apply more force to the keys. My wife was a nail typist, I am a pad typist. Of course, I could be wrong.

16 months with me, no issues, quite a heavy daily usage. I had also at least 4 nasty drops that luckily left no major damages but minor scratches on the edges.

Iv decided ill be taking the plunge. I played with the Classic again, but i feel its a bit too big (wide) for my taste.

I have had hypersensitive keys and double typing. Both are fixed. I think it's the luck of the draw. I wish there was some objective way of measuring the frequency of these problems, but there isn't. Since people tend to come to forums to find resolutions for problems, the double-typing issue may be overstated. Or it may not be.

If you buy one and end up having problems, check out the thread in my signature. But hopefully you won't have any problems at all.

If possible, make sure you get the SQN100-5. That seems to be the model with the least hardware issues.
