Planning on buying q10 tomorrow from T-Mobile. What kind of speeds will the phone get once it is on ATT network?

(is there a better version of the q10 to use on ATT's network?)

You will get 2G, 3G, '4G', and LTE speeds with a T-Mobile Q10. Unlocking it for use on AT&T might take a little work though.

There's no better version of the Q10 to buy, as the TMO version has all the AT&T bands (and TMO's too.)

Edit: see this excellent thread if you're interested in comparing models based upon network bands.

AT&T will be selling the Q10 way before you get the unlock code from T-Mobile.

Why will it be so difficult to get it unlocked?

Can we not pay for an unlock service to get the code?

As of January 26th, you need to get a carrier's permission to unlock a phone bought after January 26th. You can thank the DMCA and the Librarian of the Congress for this asinine rule.

Raino, thanks for all the help.

So with that in place, will services like crackberry-unlocking and cellunlocker.com not work? Or can those services still unlock the phone, it is now just illegal?

They'll work, but they'll just be "illegal."
