With our BB10 devices we can minimise the browser with YouTube playing but if the Venice is running Android we'll be forced to use the YouTube app and lose these special powers won't we? Or do you guys think there's a possibility the guys over at BlackBerry HQ have thought of a way around it?

When I minimize the YouTube app on my Nexus 6 it keeps playing in the background. I have to close it to get it to stop...or pause what I'm playing.

I think you need a youtube music key for that. I don't think you can do it by default. But it's not that Android as an OS cannot do it, the app was just implemented that way probably to limit accidental videos running in the background (maybe you set them to silent without realising) and consuming your data.

However I read there are other apps in Google play that allow you to do that.

There is a modded apk on xda that features not only background playback but also a mini player overlay.
