I've recently discovered that the Yahoo Finance app is installed on my Priv. Must have happened during one of the updates. The app can't be removed / uninstalled, but I can disable it. As it can't be uninstalled, I'm guessing this is Blackberry's first piece of bloatware. What gives??? If I wanted bloatware, I would have bought a Samsung

BlackBerry lacks the market power to keep carrier bloatware off of its handsets.

It's on my unlocked -001. I had to disable it. I'm not sure why BlackBerry would contract with Yahoo and force this on its users.

I thought this was some of Rogers' crap because they're in bed with yahoo.

I'd be interested in seeing if the yahoo finance app is across the board or just a select few carriers.

I have it on AT&T too. Odd, you'd think the unlocked versions bought straight from BlackBerry wouldn't have it; so it sounds like it's actually BlackBerry bloat instead of carrier.

I believe so too - yahoo finance is pretty much unheard of here in Europe. Providers wouldn't pre-install that. It's also weird that Blackberry would push that onto German devices - but apparently, that's what they're doing

In the USA yahoo is known for financial information
    And news
Kinda like Google search is for general information

So maybe that's why yahoo is pre-installed on the blackberry priv

Because blackberry is associated with being a business phone

    It sounds good anyway

On the DTEK50 initial startup, the user is given a choice to install it or not.

Mine too, TMO 100-1 series priv. Went to apps and disabled it completely, along with a bunch of other bloat.

Maybe I should not jinx it. I do not find it on my Verizon Priv. But remember Verizon sold its soul and our Search Engine choice to MS a few years back - stuck with Bing for a while.

It's on my Shop BB Priv connected to AT&T, can't remove it, it's disabled, but still taking up 17.54 MB of memory.
I know, not a lot of memory, but still.

Forgot about that. Oh, so that's what they and BB are trying to do that's slowing up Marshmallow - get Yahoo Finance on our Privs and make sure it can't even be disabled!!!

Blackberry already knows how to do that.
