So my passport is away for repair. Got the backup on my desktop.

Do we know whether Link will talk to the Priv?

Not sure which will arrive first.

Hopefully I won't need to go out and buy a second pprt just to set up my priv!

Internal working of Android OS is very different from that of BlackBerry 10 OS.

I hope that BlackBerry Limited will provide us with another piece of Windows and Mac software like BlackBerry Link.

In the absence of such software I would use (one of) a number of backup utilities designed for Android OS and available on the Internet.

Moreover I highly doubt you'll be able to restore a passport backup to a Priv. Last OS change very little transfered over.

My argument is that this is a different android that uses very high standard of security. Link would probably be compatible, I'm sure that blend works

This would all be easier if a proper release came to light

I'm sure you will be able to use the device switch app over a wifi network to transfer the data.

For restoring a bb10 backup im not so sure but who knows!

Not with Link, but the Priv comes with a Content Transfer app.

Ah yes I read the piece. If my passport doesn't come back from repair in time I'm gonna have to buy a cheap Z10 and put my passport data on that, so I can then use the new app grr

I really only care about my Contacts, although my memos (Remember) and my bookmarks would be a nice bonus. But then again, I am something of a digital hoarder, and seeing as my husband is so reluctant to change (more so than myself--he still sports my 9700), Contacts would be fine (and I need to clean house). I have little other than email on my work phone, and could work around either circumstance. I'd be surprised if something wasn't in place to transfer data over, Link or no.

Use content transfer app to capture onto media card then install companionlink on pc. Companionlink is a third party sync app works like a charm with android phones and will sync contacts, calendar tasks and notes in outlook.
