I am visiting USA from UK for 3 weeks and was thinking of buying the PRIV from amazon.com and take it back to UK.

I was just wondering if it'll work in UK?

Also how do I get the OS upgrades? Is it tied to mobile network/carriers or to Blackberry services?

It should work, the GSM models have significant band overlap.

As for updates, it depends if they ship you a factory unlocked model or an AT&T model. Hope you get the former; they get updates essentially the day the come out, while the AT&T model requires an active AT&T SIM card + AT&T to get off their butts and push out an update.
