It is you who doesn't get it. When you launch an Android device, people who buy it expect to have Google play on it. So far no Android device has succeeded in the west without Google play store on it.

You can just create a new dummy google account where you don't receive any emails, disable location tracking and use a different browser. That way, the dummy account will have very little information about you.
Or BlackBerry posts their BlackBerry apps also in BlackBerry world so that people have a choice if they want to use Google or not.

Why should I have to create a dummy Google account to use a BlackBerry phone if I don't want Google play? Just because BlackBerry decided to trade me to Google? I pay them not they me!
When you buy a service or product from one company do you have to register with another?

I suppose Elop forced Nokia phone users to register with Microsoft, before the purchase...

Giving folks privacy doesn't pay the bills though.
Really? It worked fine until Google monopolized the internet.

If you create the google account with your existing email from any other dommain you will be less tracked. You dont need to have a gmail address to have a google account.

All those tracking things google does can be disabled.

Each account is treated separately on Android regardless of the email you use to log in. You shouldn't have to worry about cross references & connections.

MAC address remains the same. They can cross reference which emails accessed what on the same device.

But that wouldn't be an advertising thing more of a tracking tool.

Because some features require root access and the way to do that is to unlock the bootloader.
Only turning off Internet checking upon boot up requires root.

Everything else on that article can be done without rooting your device.

BlackBerry does have their own Android store--it was called Amazon Appstore lol.

But, one could probably use it as an alternative.

That's not any better. Amazon does almost as much data mining as Google.

I am sure they can combine the two pieces of information.
