I just got my Priv yesterday and found an interesting fact: the charger that came with the phone charges way quicker than my Aukey quick charger. The output of the original charger is 5V/1.3A, and the Aukey is 3A max.

Charging from 50%, Aukey needs 3+ hours but the original one only needs 45 minutes (and it did finish in 45 min).

Is it due to the USB cable or the charger? The Aukey charges my Z10 really fast, but not so for the Priv.

Maybe the aukey one isn't supposed to charge such a big battery. Z10 is much smaller

Thanks for the replies. I'll test the Aukey with another quick charge device.

Based on my testing with quick charger able to fully charge the PRIV from 0 to 100 in 2 hours and 5 minutes.

Original charger takes over 3 hours.

I have the Aukey quick charge and it definitely charges faster than the factory one.

Have you tried using a different USB cable?

I thought my anker quick charge pack was faulty, but I tried a different cable and it was super fast.

One thing you have to watch out for (and something I find particularly annoying that Qualcomm did) is that there are "quick chargers" and then there are chargers that meet Qualcomm's Quick Charge 2.0 charging standard.

Charger manufacturers can use the term "quick" (since it's just a word in the English language) to describe their chargers, but those chargers don't necessarily put out 12V/3A/60W.

Quick Charge 2.0 chargers can support 5V, 9V or 12V (volts) and up to 3A (Ampere) and 60W. Quick charge 1.0 could support 5V and 2A (10W). Many chargers on the market support 5V 1A, and standard computer USB ports output a minimum of 5V, 0.5A. There are many more variations that land somewhere in between.
Bottom line, make sure it's an actual "Quick Charge 2.0" charger and just "a really fast charger".

I have a bunch of chargers in my collection. The old ones (that put out like .6A are pretty-much useless with the Priv (or any other modern smartphone). I also have some 2A and 3A USB chargers that work. They charge the phone in a reasonable amount of time. And then I have a couple of Quick Charge 2.0 chargers...and there's a H-U-G-E, noticeable difference in charging times (i.e. on the 3A charger, the phone tells me it'll be fully charged in 1 hour 20 minutes...and on the Quick Charge 2.0 charger, it'll be fully charged in 11 minutes).

Yup, no USB cable is exact copy of another. You may want to check that usb cable rated at 24 awg, to be compliant with 'fast chargers' notwithstanding the chargers itself is qualcomm certified or not. Fast charger usb wires need thicker copper core.
