    Hi,

we all know that the Priv becomes pretty warm. But is there a security mechanism in the OS that prevents hardware damage due to high temperature? I ask because i have experienced automated reboots that only happen while i'm wearing the Priv in my pocket and then naturally becomes hotter.
Does the Priv perform a reboot if it gets too hot? I've had these automated reboots with early firmwares. Then they disappeared. But with the most recent release AAF057, it unfortunately has reappered.
With earlier firmwares (where the rebooting issue was not present), i once had seen a notification which told that the temperature was too high and the CPU performance was temporarily reduced for solving this issue. I never saw this again.

Once the device hit a certain temp it will automatically take steps to reduce the temp. Reduce performance etc..

It will likely turn itself off yes, but I imagine in extreme cases.
Reboots are probably a dodgy App or a Software bug

You'll get a system notification that it's getting hot and is taking steps to cool the device down,!

I get the heat notification occasionally. More lately since it's been 90 degrees outside. My phone has never reset because of it but I'd imagine that if it couldn't cool down it might.

Mine threw a ton of notifications and turned on flightmode, energysaving... after lying in the sun too long, but did not shut down or reboot. Well at least until i found it there and putting it on cold stone floor to cool it down.

Ok. Then i need a different theory for the reboots. Maybe just accidently the power button is pressed in my pocket.

I have observed whenever over heating happens, Priv automatically cools down by restricting some functions. Even some time when I plugged for charging, I got message because of over heating, charging is being paused till cooled down and then charging resumes.

The question shouldn't be what the PRIV does when it overheats, but what the owner does..... If your phone is getting hot enough to shut down or give you a warning message on a regular bases. It is defective or a lemon, while you can... have it replaced under warranty.

Random reboots, as stated earlier, are usually caused by software bugs. If you feel adventureous, try the (android debug bridge) ADB catlog command after such reebot. It should contain the reason why your device has reeboted.

Usually update and factory reset tend to fix it in other android devices. Dunno about the priv, thought.

My Priv never overheats, at night I keep it in the fridge (for quick access) and at night in the freezer. I only have a problem with the power bank I use to charge the Priv, fridge and freezer seem to be too cold for the latter. Any suggestions?
