I mean that I use the app and it doesn't affect my battery time at all. I get almost 6h SOT with it.

Surely the solution to this is just adding the Hub to the Quick Launch which is what I did... a year ago.

One swipe up and to the right from anywhere opens the hub.

Also, the opening stuff in the hub and pressing back actually does take you back to the hub with recent updates.

Agree on the quick launch, it's native and you don't have to give up any permissions to a 3rd party. Still miss the peak though, I'd like to have that back.

I've gone full screen by hiding the nav bar (unless I swipe up to access it) so the gestures are useful to me. Using the swipe up would mean two swipes. But that's just me.

Well the permissions it requires to run... What is the point of having a secure android phone if you give those permissions to a gesture app beats me.
