Still nothing here. Not really excited about this nor am I thinking, "It's about time!" More like, meh. I am dissapointed, though, with myself. Hands down, this is the most ridiculous thing I have willingly put myself through. You know, we waited for a long time, a real long time, before Verizon had officially announced they would carry this handset. Then we went through the same process waiting for this release, which is really only incremental at best. And I swear we waited longer for this one. If the last few security updates were not tied to this release, I would care for it even less. Doze, don't need it.

You know, when we finally got our Privs many commented that it was then a "year old" handset. Obviously, it wasn't, but we are getting a year old OS. Nougat dropped in late August; Samsung was slow to release MM, but is expecting to roll out N soon. LG already has rolled out for G4, G5, and v10. HTC is claiming to roll out by end of 2016. And a few others. What about BlackBerry? Who knows, but I'll bet TCL pushes out BlackBerry's version of N to DTEK 50 and DTEK 60 before BlackBerry can get it going for Priv. What about us Verizon Priv owners? Let's wait and see if we get the November security patch first.
I think Apple will get Nougat before the Verizon Priv gets it!

I'm right behind you. Going to AT&T for convenience/network coverage, but intentionally buying the DTEK60 direct from BlackBerry for the flexibility. My wife has an iPhone so she can easily move to another carrier after the switch as well.
Not something I thought about - Are iPhones moveable between Verizon to other carriers and from other carriers To Verizon? Or are they still proprietary to the Verizon network?

Verizon Pixels will get updates at the same time, plus Google releases the OTA update files and such which don't need an unlocked bootloader.
NOPE. Not me. I don't buy another Verizon-tied phone. If I were to get the pixel from Google, I would want to know that it is not a specific Verizon model but could be used on Verizon or T-mob or AT&T or whomever!

you can get the sim free one but i think you loose wifi calling and vvm or get the verizon version that is almost the same even the updates
just keep in mind the last ones 6+ and 7+ drop call too often, will see if tonights update will fix something

They are completely unlocked to all carriers. No iPhone is dependent on a carrier. At least to my knowledge. I have wifi calling and the voicemail tab is automatically built in to my Verizon iPhone 6s Plus.

The last Verizon update with a older phone I had just randomly arrived.. I did not have to request update (since it was pushed out by Verizon /I just had to have over 90% battery life and WiFi source)...
I assume we have to request the update by checking for update throughout the day?

Looks like it. Doesn't seem to be any other way to download.

Not necessarily. If you're patient enough it will just show up. Your phone will check throughout the day

If it's true what they say about checking for updates to often blocking your phone.. I'm going to need an autoloader asap! I'm likely locked out for the next 6 months! haha

Still nothing for me in DC area, but have been checking every 2-3 hours (yes I saw the whole "do not check to often" thing..)

Also I noticed that the VZW web site for the upgrade states specifically:

Connect your device to a Wi-Fi network, or make sure it has a strong Verizon Wireless network connection.
Ensure your battery is fully charged before starting the software update.

I am wondering if we really need to have battery at 100% before it will download to our devices.

Maybe the 3 user who have received it can chime in.

I had my phone plugged in when I ran the update. Just seems to be safer that way. But I wasn't at 100% when I got notified.

I also noticed there's several updates to apps it does during the update process (makes sense). I rebooted twice (a couple hours apart) which seems to help things settle down. Pretty much over the last 24 hours it has been running better than ever. No heating problems, although still early for that, and battery life has improved. I went from 9am to midnight and still had about 40% left (usually I'd be down to under 20%). Going to try to play with wifi calling today along with a few other improvements.

    Stay tuned.
