Its not a BlackBerry issue. Verizon should by law have no business with software updates. Just think if ISPs did that to computers? The Internet would have died.
Verizon touts "we're protecting our network", okay with letting phones onto the network that are running outdated security patches even though the security patches are available. Alrighty then.
Good job protecting the network. NOT!

I have been thinking of jumping ship just due to the lack of VVM and ability to send short code text. I am sure I am not the only one who either didn't buy a Priv from Verizon or returned it and switched to a different phone due to these two issues. I think this is only going to hurt BlackBerry's reputation more the longer it lasts and Verizon doesn't care. They have plenty of other phones out there that work on their network so there is no incentive for them to fix it. Supposedly marshmallow will fix it but when? 2018?

Verizon is discontinuing vvm from what I read. Their lack of support on the priv is bs though. I'd like to see wifi calling enabled. I have 2 jobs and in both buildings the signal is about non existent

I wonder what would happen if they found a vulnerability like Apple just fixed in 9.3.5, if it were able to root a Priv. Would Blackberry override Verizon?

I think at that point they would push out the update. But the question is would the update work the same without the latest security patch? That would also be a good reason to push out all the security patches and the latest OS saying without it the phone is vulnerable to rooting.

Verizon is changing VVM systems and in the process dropping support for some much older phones in the process. There was an article about it a while back, I believe BB10 phones were going to the new system but BBOS was loosing it. You would have to look up the article to verify model numbers. When The priv was first released on Verizon it was before the announcement. But that is what the tech blamed it on when I couldn't activate it right away. He assured me that it would be fixed in a couple of weeks. That was on the day after it was released and here we still are months later.

Never had a "pleasant" surprise from Verizon Wireless in the 30+ years I've been a customer. Once I pay off the Priv I'm taking my family plan as far away from Verizon Wireless as possible. I've finally had enough of the nonsense. I've convinced most of my friends and family to follow my lead.

I agree. My next phone will be unlocked from the manufacturer. If by then vzw supports that, I may stay. Otherwise, I'll switch to AT&T.

If we could only get the data package and service we have now with another carrier, we would have been gone a long time ago.

Okay, how do we get this out there? Publicity? There must be some forum which might generate some interest or controversy that either Verizon or BB has to respond to? NO?

If it causes their stock to tank or a real FCC investigation, otherwise...
