2 finger Swipe down from top. (To go straight to gears, instead of 2 single finger swipes)

Click gear. Device>Under display> adaptive brightness off

    2 things will happen

    1. Your screen will look 100 x brighter even at 20 percent bright setting. Mind blown?

    2. Battery increased about 5 to 10 percent.
    Depends on usage

Tried it as well and it has helped today. Only noticed that in sunlight it's harder to see screen.

Anyone know why that is? I saw this post in the morning, turned off adaptive brightness, and the screen was so bright. I thought why didn't I do this before. Then I went out, had sunglasses on. Took out my phone in my car and it was so dim. Now I know the brightness was set to low but why was it super bright indoors?

Adaptive brightness adapts the brightness the current lighting conditions.

Turning it off sets it at one level and doesn't change.

It's also a possible cause for screen flickering.

It's strange that turning it off makes the screen instantly brighter (at a constant brightness level). Anyways I've always had it turned on during the first month. Never had a battery issue though (always managed 5.30h SOT). I will turn it off to experiment and will let you know if I see an improvement or not.

Checking it out ,my battery seems okay....on busy days it's does die quicker as per normal but any chance to make it last longer is a plus

It's an inherent weakness with any screen technology. AMOLED suffers from it less than LCD and IPS do, but it still requires a significantly higher level of brightness to seem equally bright outdoors as it does indoors thanks to that 384.6 yottawatt lightbulb in the sky :P

ok time to report back. from my limited experience of trying this out for the past 2 days, my guess is that turning adaptive brightness off improves my battery life by about 10%. today I had 40% left with 4 hours of SOT.

of course the results are far from conclusive and YMMV.

Was a pain having it go so dark now the light shines into my baby blue eyes, lmao

I leave it on for my Classic and will with the Priv. It is one of those creature features I need in a phone. I am a bit worried about becoming a wall hugger when I make the full conversion to the Priv but hopefully it'll be worth it.

not worth it. I kept it on as I like the convenience of being able to read the screen outdoors without having to manually change the brightness

In my case, this really helped BEFORE the March update. After the update, I turned it back on and my battery life is still excellent!

My screen brightness stays on about 5% and I leave adaptive brightness off indoors, but switch it on outdoors else I can't see much.
