I haven't been tethering for the past two days yet the data usage is very high. I used it for a few days last week and can't have used more than 500mb and did switch it off when not using

Can anyone help explain why it is so high? I have 15gb to use. Does the data limit I set apply to tethering? Will I still get the warnings I've set

It's now 5.66gb and I connected for thirty minutes during lunch. I didn't download anything only browsed in that time yet it's so high

I would think that your data usage rate would be tied to the Android to Google functions.

Do you have auto update disabled on the PlayStore? Also, if tethering to a computer, I would be concerned about whether *it* might be auto updating.

During my first month that in November I tethered ALOT. I got warnings all the the time.

I'm now on an 8GB plan so I have to restrict apps.

I've also found uninstalling Facebook not only reduces the amount of data used but it increases performance on the phone. I only use Facebook in Chrome and I still get notifications through the browser. You can see Removed Apps used to be Facebook.

Windows 10 will run a LOT of data unless you have shut off the tiles, Cortana and the rest of the "always-in your face" spyware-generating things. If you do, then the usage is reasonable. If not, well....

I don't know what you're tethering TO, but it's the device on the other end, not the phone that's causing this.
