I'm posting from my old faithful Classic since my Priv is now just an unresponsive black screen with a blinking blue light. I've tried the regular restart options as well as the 32 second hard restart, if anyone has some advice I would really appreciate it!

Try using an Autoloader to recover the phone or call BB support

    Blackberry Support 1-866-533-8067

[email protected] They will give you feedback and support as I did.

Went through all of the various methods of trying to reboot or use an autoloader with BlackBerry Support but had no success. Phone is being replaced under warranty and should have the new one tomorrow.

I just bought one today. It started blinking a purple light and the screen went black.

Try holding the power button for 32 seconds which should simulate a battery pull. I believe the purple light means you're entering the boot menu - if you hold the power button and volume down for an extended time the purple light will come on. With the purple light you should be able to use an autoloader if the hard reset doesn't work.

Press and hold the power button 10 seconds, if that fails, 32 seconds.

See message 3 above for support.

Actually, the person I quoted just got the phone and I don't think he tried it. I could be wrong.

Forget the AT&T and buy it from directly from BlackBerry. In the long run it will even save you a few bucks.

Believe me guys, I've been through the whole "hold the power button down for 10 seconds, then 32 seconds" a hundred times. Nobody at Blackberry could help, nobody at AT&T could help. To think it happened 4 different times. ATT sends replacement Priv's from their inventory of used problematic phones. Right now, I have exactly no way to get my passwords and contacts. They're in the cloud in an XML version that no other "usable" phones will read. Sorry, not taking it out on you guys, you're the only support group I have. I feel I have no options. AT&T finally said they'll send me a Samsung which I do NOT want.

This is a case study in awful customer service by both BBRY and AT&T.

    Al

one more thing, the autoloader was the first thing we tried. Computers don't recognize the dead device, although I can't even be sure the BBRY support "specialist" knew anything about the phone. She read from an a script and had no clue. I would have thought someone at BBRY would have used some common sense and sent me a new one. Another customer lost I guess (and it shows in their earnings release today).
