The megapixels will be moot - it's the sensor.

If the slider's camera is on par with BlackBerry's prior cameras, then it's a joke.

It's gotta be up there with the G4, S6, i6 or its basically garbage.

Exactly. People who see 18 megapixels and think, "finally, a good camera!" have no idea what makes a good camera. The 18 mp means nothing in the grand scheme. It's a trick. Bigger mp MUST mean better camera! Right? Right?!

    And the sheep go baaaa.

Optics is more important, yes, but megapixels does have its place, especially when the lens isn't a zoom lens. The extra megapixels provide more flexibility for cropping and/or oversampling when scaling down.

The consensus on this board is that finally, BlackBerry is going to have a good camera. The only thing we've heard about this supposed camera is that it will be 18 mp. That does not make the camera better. People are falling for the megapixel marketing.

The classic, q10, z10, z30, passport do not have lesser cameras because they are lacking in megapixels. If there's an issue with these cameras, It's the software and optics.

One more crucial item for a good camera is its sensor. Large mega pixels on a "small" sensor gives a lower quality picture.

Paspoort has 4 cores, but for android player it only uses 2 cores. If it's gonna be a BlackBerry os10 I hope that they optimize the player perfectly so that android apps performs fast and fluid. Otherwise I don't see any added value to buy this phone since blackberry has no apps and the only choice is android apps.

Well this is a surprise and actually I am quite happy if this is the case....

    https://n4bb.com/blackberry-venice-s...-release-date/

    5.4-inch Quad-HD display
    18 MP rear-camera
    5 MP front-camera
    1.8 GHz Hexa-core (Snapdragon 808 chipset) 64-bit
    3 GB RAM

What I am especially happy about is the Camera and chipset....I really don't like the 810 processor and yes it would have been awesome that they would use the exynos instead

5.4 Inch Quad HD is huge to be honest....

Please tell me you what you guys think.....
I got very excited with these specs, and in anticipation of an android, checked out reviews for android phones to see how the os will be etc. have to say its pretty nice!

but then I came across a nexus 6 review.. which like the others is good. but with a 3 thousand something mAh battery, the reviewer said with heavy usage, the batter ran out (as in phone switched of) after 3 and half hours. with medium usage, 5-6 hours.

how does bb deal with this issue? not that it will happen for sure, but I do know samsungs don't last 25 hours either... if blackberry release a full android device, even a stock lolliop os (which the nexus 6 is running) I sincerely hopew the battery life is way better than this!

That's true. Taking good photos is based on how well you know your camera and photo composition.

BlackBerry should focus on using 64 bit resources and performance benefits to ensure their devices are super secure.

Like turning on encryption by default and make it so seamless and user friendly that the average user doesn't feel the difference.

    Posted via CB10
Encryption should be enabled by default, as should password protection. But what about BB10's encryption isn't seamless besides the initial enabling of it?
