Has anyone figured it out on the Priv yet? For the last couple years I was bragging to my iphone and Samsung friends about being able to play YouTube while the app is minimized, Active tiles was amazing and now it's gone..

Has anyone figured out a trick or glitch? I had it working today by accident and it hasn't worked again since..basically I just played my YouTube video and swiped down while on the home screen and the Play/Pause button would show up. I tried again since and nada

I have a Nexus 6 and on my device it depends on the YouTube video. Some continue to play in the background and some don't. But I would say the vast majority do.

Yes, no can do, not officially anyway. You may be able to find some apps in the Play Store that do this, but with YouTube Red, I suspect that Google will be hunting down apps that provide the same functionality at no charge. I know that comparable apps on iOS have started disappearing.

Welcome to the world of artificial restrictions.

Hey ladies and gents DetritallGeo just saved my life and restored faith in the Priv lol. To run YouTube while minimized and in the background simply use Firefox Brower and the YouTube mobile website. Not the YouTube app.

Which is exactly what you did on BB10. YouTube ran in the browser so it behaved as such.

I don't have a priv, but I'm sure you can. The reason google doesn't want youtube playing in the background is because they sell advertisement space on the videos, so they want you to be watching if it's playing.

Youre right I'm just noticing I never used the YouTube app on BB10 because it was atrocious lol. To this day I use the Facebook website over the app as well.

I will say as a Nexus 7 owner with Marshmallow, the Firefox youtube trick works if you just lock the screen. Switching to another app or minimizing it causes a fader effect (sound cuts off every half second or so). I still have and use my Z10 and love it dearly for this feature (worked with any website audio really) and its awesome calculator that had built in conversions. Looking to upgrade sometime, maybe to the Priv.

I found PVSTAR+ in the Amazon store. It runs in the background, it can play audio only to save data and it can even cache videos so that you can play them offline.

I guess ever since Amazon changed how you could acquire FREE apps by using Amazon Underground I stopped downloading apps. If I recall, they wanted too much information and tracked all usage. Is there a way to get Amazon apps without this complete tracking aspect. I'd even be willing to pay to avoid that nonsense.
