Recently when I switch to the front camera in BlackBerry Camera I get a pink / red camera output onscreen.

Switching between front / back camera fixes problem normally but it is annoying.

Updating to newest camera app and normal reboot didn't fix it. For now it seems clearing the camera app cache (185MB) has fixed it, but not sure if it is a long-term solution.

Just switched a few times between those modes on my two Priv's and that did not happen. Not sure what "fills" up the cache.

But then how would clearing the camera app cache fix it? *wondering*

Luckily, I have none of the issues the Topic Starter has,
but what I'm wondering what does this 175 MB (more or less) cache consist of? It quickly gets to this approx. this amount again after clearing. Is it necessary to clear the cache, let's say, once a week, in order to have the Cam in optimal shape?

Yip sadly the error returned and this time I tried instantly using google camera and it had same issue - so hardware error seems to be the case. D*mn I won't return it another time as it would be the second time that I will have to wait 2 month to get it back - no way I will do this unless the camera fails completely.

Sad the hardware on this device is so fragile.

It shouldn't be much more than a settings file.. maybe some logs. I am not sure what other stuff Android may do under-the-covers though.. possibly optimized executable files or something.
