And if I can use it in India and Philippines once unlocked?

Cheaper than what? You can get unlock codes from multiple sites online. Many people have had success from blackberry code source.

Also you'll have to check to see which bands are supported at those places and compare to your priv.

Yeah there's usually some that are cheaper than that. Blackberry code source looks like it's 28 US.

There's unlockcanadagsm looks like it's $20 Canadian. I have never used personally so I can't comment on them.

There's a few different options though.

Are we talking like vacation, or permanently? US carriers will unlock free for a vacation even if you are under contract. And I thought we had we had the most hardnosed carrier's.

And Verizon's phone have been UNlocked for quite a while. I think all BB10 were unlocked and the Priv is UNlocked.

All Canadian carriers charge 50 to unlock phones. Pretty standard for some reason. Lots of other cheaper alternatives though.

Yeah. They agreed to it when they purchased the 700 Mhz spectrum, I think. I know it had to do with a deal they made with the FCC.

I've used countless unlocked AT&T phones on T-Mobile and feel as it is less of an experience for that reason. There were little things that popped up, and the bloarware that couldn't be deleted.
