I had damaged my housing a few months ago while trying to get the Seidio case off the phone so bought a replacement back from eBay - although I lost wireless charging in the process (not that I used it).

What I noticed is the white sticker bar on the left (see image). When I got the back on the phone it now feels like a solid device - no wiggle or creaking and the slide mechanism seems smoother. I'm guessing the white bar is for stabilization.

Link to the replacement back cover on eBay in case anyone else is interested.

Hopefully all the ones they send have this mod because the image on the ebay page doesn't include it.

I always wondered how the engineering team tackled this issue.

Nice to know they had a very simple and cost effective (which is always best) solution lol

Was easy - watched a youtube vid before doing it.

    To remove:
    1. First turn the phone OFF, then take out the Sim and SD trays - the back will not come off otherwise.
    2. Use finger nail or tool to loosen back on the sides - be careful around buttons they are very thin near there!!
    3. Remove the top part, the right side is a bit hard - again be careful near the SD slot.
    4. Once that comes loose, pull the back off downward and it slides off.

    To put new one on:
    1. Insert the phone with the speaker first
    2. snap the back case on to the phone
    3. Put back the Sim and SD card
    4. Turn the phone ON

Any tampering COULD void the warranty. The odds of them realizing it if you don't damage/ding the device in any other way are probably slim. But, of course, you also want to know that you are getting the reinforced piece unless you plan your own retrofit/reinforcement.

I hate the creaking. Can anyone else confirm this works? I may try it out myself if I know for sure...

NFC seems to be there although I haven't tried to use it - settings are there and I can turn it on/off.

I think the seller meant to say it was missing wireless charging coil.

You can tap a MC PayPass or Visa PayWave credit card to see if it responds to test.

    My Model is STV100-3

Do I also have Wireless Charging?

Answer! I found already out in the Internet that I don't have only the Models with the Number 1.

But the only good thing is the Models with 3 Support faster Band.
