The BlackBerry Content Transfer app has over 500,000 downloads. This app is for migrating old phone data to a Priv.

This suggests that there may be over 500,000 Privs in the wild.

I think that app can be used for other devices as well - not just the Priv. So your sales guess might be a bit high.

Besides, if they had sold that man priv's already, I suspect BlackBerry would be telling us.

    This is the description:

You can use the BlackBerry Content Transfer app to switch to your new PRIV by BlackBerry. The Content Transfer app moves data that is saved in the storage space on your Android (v4.0 and later) device. Data that is associated with a web-based account, such as contacts and calendar events, is transferred when you add the account to your new device.

This is the app from media mushroom right?

It has been out since 2013 and was originally intended for people to transfer data from android to Blackberry - since the priv was released all they have done is change the text on google play - the old text is still on their actual website:

Switching to BlackBerry 10 has never been easier

Whether you’re switching from an iPhone, an Android, or a BlackBerry device, we can help you transfer the data that’s important to you to your new BlackBerry 10 device!

The first review is 21st May 2013.

It's for Priv only. FWIW, I own a Priv and never downloaded the app.

If its the app we all think it is - it downloads fine on any android device that runs 4.0 and above.

Is Lawguyman confusing two similar named apps? One provided by BBRY on the device (a lot of OEMs do this) and the third party one on Google play?

I can see where the confusion comes in - on the android store the 3rd party app isn't called Device Switch it's called... "content transfer".

It's the "BlackBerry Content Transfer " by media mushroom. It's an old app with a new description for the PRIV. There's 1498 reviews dating far back and 500k-1M installs.
