Notifications and alarms work fine. There is no media sound output at any volume, whether using speaker or headphones, and using any app. Youtube, Spotify, and Play Music all show that they're playing audio but there is no sound coming from the phone.

Do Not Disturb is not enabled.

My phone did not have this problem before the recent OS upgrade.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Run Blackberry Virtual Expert in the Playstore and run its various tests.

Something definitely seems amiss on this... Especially since Marshmallow has actually seemed to better the audio quality of the device raising the volume and making the device sound a bit more robust... As suggested by French and F2, reset the device via press and hold of the Power Down key for 32 seconds and then download and run the BlackBerry Virtual Expert if needed to rule out the obvious... If there is still an issue attempt a factory reset of the device. If all else fails, hit it with an autoloader restoring Lollipop (you can test sound here agian to see if all is well) and then attempt a Marshmallow run once more if desired...

Press the volume up button or mute button.

For some reason Marshmallow tends to mute it often by itself for me.

Press the volume up or down button and then hit the arrow .
They will appear the volume lines for everything.

I finally broke down and did a factory reset. All of my efforts to fix this without a factory reset failed.

But did the Factory Reset fix your problem?

No it did not fix the issue of the media volume going silent (This impacts the speaker and headphone volume for me. Rarely it will happen with Bluetooth). I still have to restart my Priv to get media volume back. Verizon Wireless tech support told me that the issue is a "BlackBerry thing" and to call BlackBerry. I still have to call BlackBerry.

No. I still had some media sound not playing periodically. I had to frequently reboot the Priv to get it to work.
