I have used every flagship BB phone that's come out as long as it's been one with a PKB. The one that had no trackpad (I can't recall which one it was -- surely a mental block for self-preservation -- I'm guessing maybe the Q10) was the most maddening thing in the world to me. I liken the lack of a trackpad and having to use your finger for cursor positioning and text selection to playing a video game in which the machine wins and laughs at you the vast majority of the time.

Now I'm on the PRIV (coming off of the Classic -- never used the Passport since I'm on Verizon and they never offered the Passport).

This PKB that also acts as a trackpad is quite frustrating. Yes, it's great in theory. Sometimes I'll swipe up for word selection, which is really nice, though most of the time I'd rather just type my words out so I'm not pausing to look at the prediction every couple of letters.

In any case, I really need help with this thing. I'm an IT geek as much as the next guy but I'm also a very busy professional who finds it really frustrating that it has a mind of its own. Sometimes the trackpad moves the cursor the way I'd like it to, but sometimes it jumps to different positions when I don't want it to, sometimes the cursor control is not functional (yes, I realize you have to tap into the text area to activate cursor control), and sometimes, of course, it replaces or inserts a word when I didn't want to do anything but re-position the cursor.

It seems some of this has to do with which app I'm in, though it's still unpredictable either way.

The apps I use are:

- BB Hub (and BB Launcher, I believe); this is where I have Email, Calendar, Contacts, and Tasks (all via ActiveSync with my Exchange host)

- VZW Message+ (texting)

Mainly, I care about typing emails and texts, which is the vast majority of my typing.

I guess I'll figure it out by trial and error and a lot of frustration eventually, but any pointers or guide on what it will do when, under various circumstances, would be hugely appreciated.

This is right now the number one challenge I have in being able to adapt to the PRIV.

Have you seen this? Might be a bit outdated (new shortcuts with Marshmallow, etc) But gives you an idea.

The PKB related stuff kicks in around 2:20 but it's only about 6 minutes overall.
