In my opinion a very good article. Google seemed to have helped them a lot and the Priv will get even more security Features next year:

    Good read, thanks for sharing!

"As for why hes ready to reveal the existence of the phone now, he says the decision came to him Thursday night.

The reason why I jumped the gun today is because its leaking everywhere, an exasperated Mr. Chen told analysts on an early morning conference call. Given the company had to face the markets with weak earnings, and the dozens of news reports and channel partners posting videos of the device, there was no option to try keeping it secret."
And this explains everything. The crummy Web design landing page for the Priv, and the terribly unprepared 'demo' he gave. Maybe it even explains the name... lol.

Some notes taken from the article......

But it wont be as secure as a BB10 handset, a fact Mr. Chen confirmed on Friday, saying further security improvements to the Priv would come in the new year. For a company that has prided itself on bulletproof security since its inception, the move could be a letdown for some,

In my own opinion Chen is in no better position than Thorsten Heins was prior to BB10 been released. Nothing new is going on at BlackBerry same old wheel turning.

Thats BlackBerrys future, and Mr. Chen also teased some very exciting products were developing in house that address IOT.

    At the end..
    It's gr8 to hear that..
But I really believe that BlackBerry should also try to enter low end consumer market also..

Yeah, read this the other day and almost posted it on CB. A good read for sure that explains a lot of what is happening at BlackBerry.

Very good and thorough interview. Thank you

This also answers a lot of the hysterics and unnecessary anger and irrational posts (like why Priv website looks unfinished).

Software doesn't stand still. It keeps on improving, bugs get fixed, & new functionalities added. If a security flaw is found they'll issue a patch. The question of course is how fast.

It's not like BB10 was perfect when it first came out of the gate. Please. It didn't really became this mythical thing that diehards are fighting for until it reached V10.2
