I went with the BB care plan...lower monthly cost and deductible. It seemed to cover more than my carrier's plan in the way of damage, except it doesn't cover theft/loss. My pebble steel watch alerts me if I get more than 10 feet from my phone so that helps keep it in sight.

You can cancel your carriers insurance at any time, but you have to sign up for the BB care plan within 30 days of purchase/receipt.

Anyone know who BlackBerry outsources the insurance to?

I'm suspect of BlackBerry's choice given the shipping debacle caused by them going with Digital River.
