I found the nice option to resize attached pictures in the hub options of composing screen. Sadly all pictures in portrait format get turned 90 degrees (or the portrait tag is lost) on resizing operation.

Took a few peeks in solid explorers EXIF data and there a hub resized picture gets a Orientation = 0 which is invalid instead of original pictures orientation = 6:

I just recently reproduced this bug on my Priv and yes, the image is in HDR mode

Yes, you already nailed and filed the bug reason (HDR) in the other thread - that's why i posted your answer there here to "close" this issue.
