I have checked every place I can think of on my Priv. But there is no QR scan. It's times like these I hate the this phone. There is no apps made by BlackBerry and Google for this. Can you recommend a good one.

    WELCOME to Crackberry.

Yup, there are limitations in the Android world.

    Here's the one I found:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...droid.kiji.qtk

I'll be watching to see what others might recommend.

Google themselves recommend this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...client.android

The Google Authenticator redirects to this one on the Play Store when you try to scan a barcode to sync the token.

Everything including QR is avaliable to you with third party apps.

Just give a few a whirl. Read several reviews on the play store. If you don't like it, delete it.

This is the inherent advantage of the Android OS. The ability to find what you needed an open-source manner ,in this case it QR Scanner, is the built-in advantage.

I don't think "open-source" means what you think it means.

The apps themselves are closed source. The OS is open source.

By opening the OS the app developers are more able to develop code that works with the OS and hardware. Innovative ideas are developed more quickly.

So, did I not expand my thoughts further? Sure.

When I read my statement is it a good explanation. Probably not.

    Guilty as charged.

Seriously? You hate a phone because there's no preinstalled QR scanning app? You could have just written "QR" in Google Play Store search and you'd get a hundred results. You could even have installed five of them and scanned whatever you wanted to scan with all of them faster than opening your topic and writing the post. Sorry about the rant, but sometimes it seems to me like you people just search for things to complain about because you're bored.

Anyway, I use this one. But I don't really think you can go wrong with this type of app.

To some extent I agree and to some extent, well, not so much.

Today I installed and UNinstalled about a dozen EXIF (jpg info) apps. Most did not have their own file manager, therefore, they had to call up another Picture/Gallery app to show pictures. Tedious. Others were poor. Ratings did not help. Getting recommendations can be really helpful.

I absolutely agree about getting recommendations, I search for them myself and I sometimes ask for them. It's just that someone saying they hate the phone because there's no QR reader preinstalled seems like a bit of an overreaction.

Btw, I believe that Piktures gallery app shows EXIF info.

Piktures does show the info. And it shows the orientation differences between the two PORTRAIT images I posted yesterday in the Priv-Pictures thread. One is 0, the other is 90. It shows them both the same way but unless I "processed" on my computer, the hdr one would have been posted on its side. I'd have to play more to see if its Rotation would "fix" it for posting to CB.

My recommendations are QR Droid Private with fewer permissions needed: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...qr.priva&hl=en

And as for exif data: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...hotoexifeditor

No need to 'edit' can be used as viewer

And there you can see the other crux of a working ecosystem, the choices are unlimited.

That might work. I need to play with the results to see if wrongly oriented Portrait images can be corrected while on the Priv. Actually, the images show up on the Priv correctly but the orientation is wrong if they are posted to Crackberry. But I should take this to another thread.
