Turn it off. You are allowed to opt out at anytime.
Battery is much better but everyone should be turning most permissions off on every app especially location as that really sucks the battery.
Permissions should be "opt in" not "opt out". Why not default everything to off?

The battery life is A LOT better. Before I was struggling to average 3.5h of screen on time per full charge, now I easily get around 6h (!!) of screen on time with MM!

Heat issue gone. Battery life fantastic compared to before. Almost as good as my Z30, almost.

I still use my z30 on second line and make all my phone calls from the Z to save my Priv battery.

Is it possible you are copying something that has bad data or settings that is causing the problem?

Is there a way to figure out if this is the case? Operating at 90+F or 34C at all times is getting annoying. I'm using a case just to make the device comfortable to hold.

Well, I guess the test would be to just start from scratch, not restore stuff from OLD stash, add accounts as if new and see how it works for a day or two or three.

Holy whiners on here! I'm on MM and the battery lasts way longer and heat issues are gone and back to being like other high end phones. MM has fixed this and many other issues.
I've had my PRIV since November 6, 2015

With my Priv I never had an issues with battery life or heating. The only time I feel the heat is when I try to play some 3D games or install some heavy apps.

In general day to day usages I don't feel any heat or face draining battery issues.

I take my phone off charge close to 8am in the morning and it will have enough battery change that can last till bed time close to midnight.
