I have a number of contacts ( not sure how many) that will not show up when I search for them. If I call the contacts number suddenly the name shows up! Where are these contacts hiding?

I have had the same issue. I had to delete my account from the HUB and have it resync. After many different ideas to deal with it that is the only solution that worked.

But my contacts are all local, I don't think that will help me

Go into your contacts app and make sure all contacts is selected. I hate to tell you this but let them sync with Google. Just your contacts. I didn't want to do it either but it seems like it was necessary. Now after you do that you need to go in and look at all your contacts in depth because it's very likely the phone merged a bunch together. I have no idea why it happens but that is what I had to do. Once you clear that up you should be able to see them all
