This is not very surprising. People are just starting to get the Priv. Without Verizon support, national advertisements and showing in kiosks and stores like Best Buy.... They won't move the needle. Add tight inventory to the mix, and it all makes sense.

Unlike apple launches where people rush out to get the phone asap, I think the BlackBerry priv sales will be a gradual build up. Lots of positive reviews, an actual presence with phone providers, actual advertising...things will hopefully gradually get sales going. I don't think it was going to be a million units right at launch. I'm hoping little delay in releasing the vienna to get more advertising and options out there and BlackBerry might start to make its sales targets. Only time will tell.

    A lot of speculation there.

First, some owners don't install a micro sd card at all.

Second, the app updates that they're referring to are dependent upon the Priv owner going to the play store and updating them, which I suspect many are not doing because the most recent devices delivered already have the updates.

Third, most Priv's weren't even delivered to pre-order customers until last week, not to mention that it hasn't released in most countries yet and there's only one carrier in the U.S. carrying the device.

I'm pretty sure those Google play numbers don't count if it is automatically on the phone when you get it so those numbers are just people who downloaded it from another device or deleted it and downloaded it again.

I think it's accurate because if you look at the reviews for the apps there's hardly any.

I would say majority of people are going directly to update these apps.. without updates the phone doesnt run so well.

We've been through this. The Play Store isn't autoupdating the apps. Therefore, most people aren't showing as having downloaded it. The result: low numbers.

This is going to be an ongoing thing. Not massive numbers around launch. I don't think BlackBerry expected to sell millions right off the bat.

Also, BlackBerry device numbers probably include the 'Vienna' and possibly more form factors to reach the 5 to 10 million sold mark. I don't think they believe it is a 'one device' strategy.

The launch was a huge flop. Not enough production. It should pick up some.

Why would you review these apps on Play Store??? Who cares especially if a former BlackBerry user. . When I got my device the so called updates were already loaded so these numbers are very inaccurate.
BlackBerry must just laugh when hearing sh.t like this.

If you have a Priv you've likely updated your apps.. even if you have to do it manually. The number did change out of the 1-10k range to the 10-50k range only a few days ago. Sales arent good. Amazon is hardly ever has stock no clue why. Production and launch flop.

Apple music launched not long ago in the google play store. It has over 22,000 reviews.

Using apple music approx 1 in 50 people review.

    Blackberry hub has 183 reviews x 50 = 10,065.

    Makes sense.

The Google Play numbers don't take into account the fact that a lot of Priv owners will not use Blackberry apps on their device because Blackberry went the smart route and did not impose their collection of BB apps on users like other device manufacturers do. If you chose you can delete all the BB Android apps and use whichever launcher, calendar, contact, and whatever alternative to the hub etc that you want to use.

Sadly I don't think there are more than 20k priv users worldwide either.

I think blackberry made a huge mistake this the launch plan.
